OutLook Online: Beyond the Union Catalogue

Welcome to the OutLook Online: Beyond the Union Catalogue workshop page. Here you will find everything you need to prepare for your upcoming workshop. This workshop focuses on how easy it is to search, submit, and manage requests to libraries not in the OutLook Online union catalogue. These libraries, known as ISO Interlibrary Loan Partners (access using Z39.50 catalogues), include Library and Archives Canada, the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and the University of Victoria. The workshop will also provide a brief overview of searching tips to find a specific format or language in the OutLook Online union catalogue, as well as how to search other Z39.50 library catalogues that do not allow you to submit and manage requests in OutLook Online.

Audience - Public library interlibrary loan and public service staff using OutLook Online.

Live Meeting instructions

Important Note: You will need access to the Live Meeting email invitation your instructor sends you to get started on the day of your training session.

What to do at least 3 days before your training session:

Watch for an invitation from your trainer to join a Live Meeting in your email inbox.

Read the instructions in the message carefully. If you choose, you can install the Windows-bassed Console a few days before your session. The other option is to use the Web-based console (no downloading or installation required). Both versions are fine for this session.

Call your instructor if you have any concerns about the Live Meeting or other session software.

What to do on the day of your training session:

15 - 30 minutes before your session:
Use the 'Click here to Join Live Meeting' link in the email invitation.

It will take a minute or two for you to be connected. If you choose to use the Web-based console, cancel the option to download the Windows console and wait for the option to use the Web console.

5-10 minutes before your session:
dial the number specified in your invitation to join the teleconference. Use the access code supplied.

Other Requirements

Each particpant in the workshop must have access to a computer during the workshop (2 people sharing is fine).
Have a session of OutLook Online running during the presentation.
